The Brunelcare in Bloom Results are in
Over the course of the last few months the local ground has been erupting in bursts of colour and scent; the entries of some of our tenants in the annual Brunelcare In Bloom competition.
With several new categories this year, and entries from fifteen different sites, a wealth of real passion and talent was displayed by all.
The competition began in March when the tenants who chose to enter their sites were provided with vouchers to spend on their choice of entering any or all of; best community, container, wildlife, and edible garden categories.
Regardless of which were entered, care and great attention to detail had clearly been made across the board, and the results were a privilege to witness by everyone involved including our guest judges, Tenant Janet Cruickshank, and Trustee Alison Paine.
The judging took place on Wednesday 7th July, a day which inevitably took the title of being the first day of rain in weeks! But such is the reality of The British Garden; and the weather did little to dampen the beauty of the choices of flowers, and plants; the use of borders and rockeries to create patterns and different ‘areas’ of planting; and the resultant hunger from the visual appeal of the edible garden entries.
Some meticulously planned with loving precision, and some chaotically random with unique style; no two sites were the same, and all were deserving of praise for such high levels of creativity and effort.
As is the case each year, decisions were incredibly difficult to make, but the top three entries were selected for each category and can be seen below.
