Our homemakers

We actively seek to improve the wellbeing of the people who live with us.

In addition to our core nursing and care team who provide exceptional clinical expertise and personal care, we have a dedicated team of homemakers who focus on social interactions, activities and wellbeing.

What is a homemaker?

Our homemakers are not included in the staffing numbers delivering direct care, as we recognise the importance of helping to enhance the lived experience for people in our homes.

Homemakers can provide 1:1 social interaction, group activities and entertainment, as well as organise trips out to various locations and welcome community groups into the home. Residents could be at the zoo one day and a museum the next, or taking part in one of the many on-site activities organised across our homes.

Our dedicated team of homemakers embodies our charity’s vision, later living that makes the most of every moment, by planning engaging activities and trips that cater to the interests of residents in the home.

FAQs

  • How does the homemaker team differ from the core care and nursing team?

Our homemaker team is not included in the staffing numbers delivering direct care, and instead has a sole focus on supporting the holistic wellbeing of residents at our care homes. This could be through organising a regular calendar of events and activities for residents to engage in, providing 1:1 interaction to those who need it, or helping residents make their rooms feel more like home. Our homemakers have a nurturing presence that makes residents feel at ease, and their focus on emotional and social wellbeing ensures residents are not only receiving the highest quality care at our homes, but are also supported to make the most of later living.

  • What are the benefits of having a homemaker team?

Having a dedicated homemaker team means residents are actively supported to thrive in our care homes. Homemakers ensure each individual resident is given the opportunity to live life in a way that suits them best, which could involve taking part in our engaging group activities, day trips and events, developing meaningful relationships with other residents or having one-to-one companionship in the comfort of their own room. Relatives and loved ones can feel comforted knowing that, in addition to our exceptional personal care, residents’ emotional and social wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do.
