Where can you volunteer?

  • In our care homes

There’s lots to join in on at our care homes; you could sit

and chat with residents, play games and do crafts, help take care of the gardens, or help out with day trips and events. Whatever you do, you will be making a difference to the lives of our residents.

  • At our reablement centre

You could help guests with activities like jigsaw puzzles, baking and crafts to improve dexterity and support their physio exercises. Taking part in events like board game evenings, film nights, singing or just sitting and chatting with someone over a cup of tea. Your time is helping prepare guests for a return to everyday life.

  • In the community

Our community volunteering gives you the opportunity to offer one to one support to someone living in our sheltered housing schemes. Each opportunity is tailored to the needs of the individual, and can include shopping, picking up medication, gardening, or going for a walk together. This role can also help provide much needed social interaction to someone who may live alone and be feeling isolated.

  • How much time do I need to give?

We don’t ask for a minimum time requirement. You are able to be flexible with your commitment, and in general can give as little or as much time as you are able to offer.

  • What do I have to be to volunteer?

Most of our volunteering roles are for age 18 or over. We may be able to accept younger volunteers, but this will depend on the role and our capacity. Please get in touch if you are under 18 and interested in volunteering.

  • Do I need any particular skills or previous experience?

Whilst these are helpful, you don’t need to have any previous experience or skills to volunteer with us. Enthusiasm, a friendly manner and a willingness to get involved are more important. Our roles provide a great opportunity for you to learn and develop new skills.
