Deerhurst recognised for exceptional dementia care

Brunelcare’s Deerhurst Care & Nursing home is proud to announce that they have been awarded the Dementia Care Matters Quality of Life award, for the fourth year running.  And more importantly, achieved the highest level, ‘Level 1’ for exceptional person-centred dementia care.

This is an exceptional result because, according to Dementia Care Matters, only 1% of care homes within the UK achieve a ‘Level 1’ distinction.

Deerhurst is a Dementia Care Matters Butterfly Service home, meaning they are achieving a recognised national standard in dementia care, providing person-centred and relationship focused dementia care. Care workers in ‘Butterfly Homes’ ensure people have a good daily quality of life which, when added to a stimulating environment, gives people a sense of purpose. This results in increased life expectancy, improved well-being and happiness.

Lesley Hobbs, Manager for Deerhurst Care Home says:

“Thank you to every single person that lives, works, volunteers and visits as friend or family as you all help to make Deerhurst great!”
