November has been a month to celebrate plenty of staff success within Brunelcare!
Firstly, Lesley Hobbs, Manager of Brunelcare’s Deerhurst Care & Nursing Home, won the ‘Dementia Care Inspiring Leader’ award at the National Dementia Care Awards 2016, held 3rd November in Brighton.
Then 12th November saw over 300 of the very best in social care attend a special awards ceremony at The Marriott City Centre Hotel, Bristol, for the finals of the Great South West Care Awards 2016. It was fantastic that Brunelcare staff (pictured) were shortlisted as finalists for several awards, namely:
- Somerset Independent Living Team (Care Team award)
- Dawn Bawden (Home Care Worker)
- Buba Touray (End of Life Care)
- Carol Harewood (Good Nurse)
- Shirley Ross (Care Home Worker)
- Iona Stuart (Ancillary Worker)
- Angela Morris (Dignity in Care)

The purpose of both of these award events is to promote and celebrate best practice within both home care and care homes sectors, and pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work in adult social care.
Paula Kennedy, CEO Brunelcare says:
“We are immensely proud of all of our people and our staff that have been recognised in these awards, but our staff are all winners to us; regardless of the results on the night.”
All four of Brunelcare’s care homes have been rated ‘gold standard’ for their end of life care
Brunelcare’s Robinson House care home is the first care home in Bristol to be rated by Dementia Care Matter’s Household Model of Care Butterfly Accreditation scheme as a ‘Butterfly Home’
