Brunelcare’s Britannia Way Day Care Centre in Clevedon now has a ‘Parlour of Wonder’!
Parlour activity sessions focus on intergenerational co-learning, sharing and discovery.
Regular sessions have taken place on Mondays, bringing together six cheerful Y5 pupils from nearby Mary Elton Primary School with up to six of our centre’s regular visitors in our care. Everyone then participates in the Parlour of Wonder sessions led by Gill at Alive! Activities supported by Maddy Norman, our Day Centre Manager.
The pupils have also used the Tangible Memories app on iPads to share their experiences of school with our older day care visitors who reflected how some things have changed and how other aspects of school life haven’t since they were at school! The parlour, a bright and airy conservatory in our case, is full of old memorabilia and a LCD screen, a modern twist to also access and display the ‘Tangible Memories’ app.
We look forward to welcoming our young friends back to Brunelcare’s Britannia Way day centre next year! It’s an inspiration to see the happy stimulation both the children and adults have shared in these sessions.
