Brunelcare’s Housing team recently received an email request explaining that an elderly man in his seventies desperately needed help finding a home. He had turned to a friend for help, having been made homeless and was finding the search for a new home very difficult. He literally didn’t know where to turn.
The friend who supported Mr Woods with his house search is none other than Jane Couch MBE, a renowned boxer and well-loved Bristol personality.
That week Brunelcare had been advertising one of their sheltered homes and their Housing team were therefore able to offer Jane and Mr Woods a viewing soon after Jane’s email request came in. Mr Woods picked up the keys to his new home today!
Bibek Bhaker, Housing Office Manager with Brunelcare comments:
“My team made contact and arranged a viewing within the space of a few days. I met Mr Woods at the flat, and at first he understandably seemed a little nervous – but I showed him around the site and flat, introduced him to our housing site team, and he loved it!”
Once it was established Mr Woods could take the flat, Jane Couch commented:
“I have to say a massive thank you to these guys and gals at Brunelcare…I tried everywhere in Bristol to get someone to help a nice old man and these people have just found him a home.”
On receiving the keys, pictured here with Jane and Bibek today, Mr Woods said:
“I’m overjoyed and very happy. This is amazing! Thank you.”
