Our February Wellbeing Month

Throughout the month of February we have taken part in ‘Wellbeing month’, designed to support the personal wellbeing of our employees.

Our 2,500 employees have been encouraged to focus on their personal wellbeing this month as part of our partnership with Care First, the employee assistance programme.

This month focused on how to reduce your risk of heart and circulatory diseases, with hints and tips about cutting down on food portion sizes and the recommended amount of exercise needed to remain fit and healthy.

The Wellbeing Month also pointed Brunelcare employees towards the NHS’ free health checker.

Brian Whittaker, HR Director said: “We take employee wellbeing at Brunelcare very seriously, our colleagues spend their working time looking after others and providing fantastic care, we aim to provide them with the support they need to be successful in their roles.

In addition to leadership development around this topic, we offer mindfulness sessions and have trained mental health first aiders available for all of our employees with thirty more due in place by May 2020. We have an ongoing wellbeing awareness campaign in place with a different topic every month. As part of this we are embracing Wellbeing Month by the use of digital channels as well as flyers, posters etc. around our sites reinforcing the benefits of putting yourself first. In our industry, it’s vitally important we care for ourselves so that we can care for others.”

Alongside the great causes we promote each month with Care First, we have also been hosting mindfulness sessions for employees across the organisation. The mindfulness sessions allow employees to focus on their mental health, and give top tips about supplements and breathing techniques to reduce stress in and out of the workplace.
