Sheltered Housing Redevelopment

As part of Brunelcare’s commitment to providing ‘great homes which are fit for the future’, we are investigating options for a number of our sheltered housing sites.

Our Board of Trustees has agreed to progress plans to the next stage on three of our sheltered housing sites for the partial redevelopment of these sites. This means that some homes on the site would be retained but some homes are proposed to be demolished where a greater number of new  homes can be built in their place. New homes will be accessible, highly energy efficient and built to modern space standards.

Our proposals

Find out more information about the three Brunelcare sites which are proposed for partial redevelopment.

  • Lilac Close

The existing scheme in Southmead comprises of 17 homes. It is proposed that 5 homes are removed and replaced with 20 new homes. The proposal would mean an increase of 15 homes and the overall the site would comprise of 32 homes. We are hoping to submit a planning application to Bristol City Council in early 2026.

  • Longmead Croft

The existing scheme comprises of 46 homes (this includes 10 homes leased to another housing provider). It is proposed that 27 homes will be removed. The proposal would mean an increase of 19 homes and the completed site would comprise of 65 homes.

  • Lea Croft

The existing scheme in Bishopsworth comprises of 34 homes. It is proposed that 13 homes are removed and replaced with 30 new homes. The proposal would mean an increase of 17 homes and overall the site would comprise of 51 homes.

Information for residents

The process of getting new homes built can take many years, and these proposals may change over time. We have provided residents on these three sites with a process chart to help aid their understanding of the process and steps involved.
