Today we are celebrating International Women’s Day,  a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

International Women’s Day marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The first International Women’s Day was officially celebrated in 1911, where it curbed a following of over one million people across the globe.

We have celebrated this year’s theme, #BreakTheBias, by visiting our care homes, extra care housing sites, retirement village and community services, to take photographs of our hardworking employees holding signs that relate to this year’s theme. With some reading: “I will forge positive visibility of women,” and “We will call out gendered actions and assumptions,” both our male and female workforce from across our charity were passionate about getting their photograph taken and supporting International Women’s Day.

One of our values at Brunelcare is: We are diverse and one team – We are one team, and we see our diversity as our strength. We aim to celebrate it, promote it and encourage it. This single value is another reason why today we are celebrating women from across our charity and supporting International Women’s Day.

To get involved with International Women’s Day, use the hashtag #BreakTheBias or #IWD2022, or visit their website for more information: www.internationalwomensday.com
