Dementia care

We are widely recognised for our expertise and excellence in caring for people living with dementia, and for supporting their families.

Living with dementia can affect every individual differently, which is why we take a person-centred approach to dementia care. We take the time to learn about your life and interests alongside your diagnosis, so we can provide a personalised care plan designed to help you make the most of life.

Our approach to dementia care

  • Namaste care

Namaste Care is a holistic, person-centred approach designed to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia. Rooted in compassion and sensory stimulation, Namaste Care focuses on creating a calm, nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and love.

Sessions typically involve soft music, gentle touch, aromatherapy, familiar scents, hand massages, and meaningful interactions—all tailored to the individual’s preferences and needs. These activities help stimulate the senses, evoke memories, and promote emotional well-being, even when verbal communication may be limited.

For people living with dementia, Namaste Care can reduce anxiety, agitation, and feelings of isolation. By focusing on the person rather than the condition, Namaste Care supports emotional and spiritual needs alongside physical care.

  • FITS into Practice and Dementia Coaches

FITS into Practice (Focused Intervention Training and Support) is a training programme designed to equip care home staff with the knowledge and skills to deliver person-centred care to people living with dementia. This approach emphasises understanding the reasons behind a person’s behaviour and responding with empathy, respect, and tailored support.

A key outcome of the programme is the development of Dementia Coaches within our care homes. These are specially trained staff members who become champions for good dementia care who help lead cultural change by supporting their teams, modelling best practice, and embedding person-centred approaches into daily routines.
